Howlite is a calcium borosilicate mineral first documented in Nova Scotia in 1868. Its signature is the veining: irregular black and brown lines running through a cream-white base. In its raw, uncut form, that character is amplified. The surface is irregular. The shape is entirely its own. No two raw howlite center stones are identical, which means no two of these necklaces are identical.

The 1-inch raw stone sits at the center of the strand like it was always supposed to be there. Because it was.
